it could happen since any air that escapes means lower compression

all i did was replace the valve seals. I asked around a few machine shops and they all said it was a common thing to get better compression after putting in new valve seals.
I don't get it. Valve seals should have nothing to do with compression. I could understand if you replaced guides and/or lapped the valves.
did you remove the heads to change the valve seals?

If it were that much there would be a valve train problem. The valve SEAT (besides the rings of coarse) is what keeps the compression in the cylinder, not the seal.

When you took your intake off, did you take the lower off too and drain the coolant? If so, did you burp the air our when refilling your cooling system? Just a thought. Good luck.

No need for lower removal to do valve seals.

Fair enough. I was just trying to imagine what could get his header glowing like that. Timing being off and lack of coolant are all I could think of. At any rate, thanks for the info Pro50sc.

set your timing at 10-12*& make sure your cats/exhaust is open & run it a little & see if it still does it.

Entire bank glowing I'd say it's running really lean, check the fuel rail and injector harness wiring.

I agree halfway with I think it was Twister, that it is running lean, though that ought to show up via a CEL. My next guess is a plugged cat creating backpressure. Seen this problem before on a Chevy pickup. Does the idle sound normal? Get in back of your car when it's running and listen. I've personally heard a clogged cat make a car sound like a diesel, it's not pretty.
