I know i asked a similar question. But the 2 d's : (D) and D the first (D) is regular. The D is the d with over drive. is it safe for the transmition to us the overdrive "D".

The circled D is the one for overdrive and yes it's ok to drive in regular drive.

on a STOCK 1984-93 AOD there is no option for 2nd gear, many people when drag racing shift 1-D-1 to lock the tranny into second before going back into D after the 1/8th....I have a Lentech valve body in mine, so the D is now 2nd for me, and I have a switch to turn off my OD

"P-R-N-(D)-D-1" i thought the d without the circle hasas over drive. cause i used it and i could see(rpm) and feel a bit of a difference than the d with the circle.

P.S. man i wanna shift kit

I have a shift kit (Transgo) in the vert, the only downsides to it that I have found are... In the morning, you either have to let your tranny warm up (letting it sit there and get up to temp) or drive it for a while before it will come out of first, the ladies don't understand why it shifts so high and they don't like the hard shifting (I know that this one doesn't really matter ), and it shifts kinda high during normal driving. But it's got way more benefits than downsides. Unless you are really looking for the most out of your transmission, I would go ahead and skip the shift kit and just adjust your t.v. cable. Oh and to clear up some things, if you AOD car is a daily driver or you are on a tight budget DO NOT do the 1-D-1 shuffle, it destroys your transmission, invest some money in a manual valve body. And Twister, you should make a new post on the Lentech valve body, the installation and if it's worth the money.

Hey '91_5.0..... How much was it to install your Transgo shift kit? (thats what I have...just not installed yet) Also..did you have to change anything? Like...something about having a 'B servo' and stuff...cuz my transmission guy says he won't do it w/out taking the whole tranny out and checking everything out first...and replacing stuff if it needs it..otherwise the shift kit could tear my tranny all to hell....could ya help me out?? (the guy also whats $375-$450 to put the shift kit in :|)

i have a shiftkit in my gt. nothings wrong with it and ive never had any problems, and for people with a AOD tranny, until you get to your final gear(if your racing) use regular drive, itll give you a little more power then overdrive but once ur in ur final gear shift to overdrive because it frees stuff up.
