i hate the AOD

my chevy has a 200-4R auto OD in it and man its ****ing sweet. you can go 1-2-D-OD

never had to put it in 1st cus it would downshift on its own, i wish the AOD was like this

wow, some of you been tipping a few brews or what?

i've never read so much nonsense in my life.

the d w/ the circle is od

if you use od too much in town , you will wear out the band (which is the weakest link in the aod, cuz it's too small) and contaminate the fluid, and ruin the torque converter and it's a $2000 rebuild for stock specs.

so in town , use d

after you get on the freeway , shift to od.

you cannot shift into od wot, it won't do it, it's made that way.

all od is is 4th gear...it's .68:1 instead of 1:1 like your third (or a t5 4th)

shift kits are very important for a aod that is even moderately raced, they do not oil properly in stock trim.

also you need an oil cooler, heat is the number 1 killer of trannies.

it's not a cheap way to race, but if your loaded and don't like to shift, do it.

after you break a couple, switch to a tremec or a c4.

aod's are horribly geared as well.

an aod w/ 3.73's has WEAKER total 1st gear than a 5-speed w/ 2.73's . aod w/ 4.10's are about equal.
