Default panhard bar?

This is only used for road race suspensions right? i have on on my car and thinking about taking it off for more of a drag setup in the rear . I bought the car with it and seem to have horrible launches with no traciton.

It can be used for either, who put it on your car and why? Whats the rest of your suspension set up, including tires?

In that case it probably needs different springs and shocks as well as a few small adjustments to things like pinion angle and lower control arm angle.

You can get more drag-oriented springs/shocks for $600-700, probably, and you can sell the panhard rod to get some of that back.

The panhard rod is designed for road racing (I don't know if it would hurt drag racing). It keeps the axle centered under the rear of the car instead of having the side-to-side play that the rear end would normally have under heavy cornering.

Panhard bars are good for all racing. It keeps the axle centered like gsp-funk said but not only through corners. It'll help your car stay straight and not want to swerve under heavy load such as drag racing. If you have ever gone to the track and saw a car with a lot of power take off and when the hit second, for no specific reason the back end gives out and they swerve all to hell. It helps stop that. granted you need a ton of power to do that but still.
