Full length subframe connectors
i purchased steeda full length subframe connectors the other day. are these the type that need the old frame cut out or do they weld to the existing frame? thanks
you dont have to cut the frame, just the front reinforcing plates, where they overlap the frame, will be cut off, then bolted back on and welded to the subframe connector. in the back you just have to use a grinder to cut a slit in the reinforcing plate and chisel off the rivets that are in the way, then weld it up to the frame. the connectors themselves, weld onto your existing frame on the front and the rear of the vehicle
no. when puttin in my sub connectors, i noticed about 3 sections of the underside of the body that had cracks starting. so we pulled up the carpet over those 3 spots when we welded the cracks up, so as to not start the carpet on fire. if you are just doing the subframe connectors, and dont have any cracks to patch, you will not have to pull the carpet up anywhere
