Default went to the track

went toSRCA dragstrip last night. First time I ever ran down a strip, and it was fun . Tell me what you think of my times. Im running crappy street tires that spun even on my best run and no burnout.

Not bad for your first time.. With similar mods my 91 went 14.2's @ 98, so you can do better just need some practive at getting going.

main differences in out set-ups were, I had a stock cam with 1.7rr's at the time, and 4.10 gears instead of 3.55's.

You need some tires/suspension work.
If you can get your 60' time down .10 you will see at least that much improvement on the E.T.
BTW where is that drag strip?

I think the best I hit stock was a 2.0 60ft.

what rpm were you leaving at? with your mods, i would try leaving at or very slightly above idle, youll hook good on street tires, and since you dont have an aftermarket intake or heads, you actually have more grunt down low, youll be able to get out of the hole good and not overwhelm your tires. when i first got my old 87gt, i had the same mods as you except the cam, i brought it to the track the first week i had it and the first time i everwent down the trackand went 14.23 at 93 leaving from idle. it took me overa year anda couple moreboltons to beat that time cause i was too stubborn to leave the line from idle again, i finallybeat it w/ old mccreary slicks and a sky high rpm, went 14.19 at 94

Tires for sure but what would you recommend for the suspension since he already has upper and lower control arms?
Ive just got upper and lower control rear arms and new shocks and struts on my car and everything else is stock right now. Is there something else I should look into considering I plan on drag racing my car at the track atleast once a week?
