Default Finally I have a 5.0

I first would like to admit that I am definitely not a mechanic....and I don't know to much about cars....well ....very little....however, I do know that I have wanted a 5.0 since high school....

I have a 1989 mustang gt....there are a few mods already....a cobra conversion kit, a k&n filter, and cherry bomb exhaust......

Now, I want to increase horsepower.....(as does everyone else)...but I am not sure where to start....What should be the first thing I do?

Eventually I would like to geta supercharger and a NO2 system...but that will probably have to wait...any input would be valuable......

Welcome to the forum. I wanted a 5.0 mustang in high school, but had to wait 14 years to get me one. I come from a family of mechanics but never wanted anything to do with cars growing up and did not like working on them. I started working for a company that had me installing computers in car dealership so I got a chance to meet alot of mechanics and I found I was better off to read the repair manual and do the repairs myself. Like Wisconsin said if you start paying people to do the repairs you will pay alot and you will never learn, so get a repair manual and start reading up. The Search feature is also a good place to find info about different repairs and things to do or not do to your car. The car I bough had most of the mods done to it so I have not had to change anything to gain power or traction. Although it does not increas the HP the one thing most people say increased the feel of power is to change the gears, so start with something like that and than spend some time planning the long term goal for your car before you start buying parts so you can get the correct parts the first time. Post up some pics of your ride.

It runs great as is..(the 302 and transmission was rebuilt - with 150 miles on it)...the deal was to good to pass up....

nice stang

i couldnt get out of my car when i first got it. i had to though... cause the battery died!

got a new battery and i was rocking and rolling again lol

the mod bug hit me this year. ive already spent double on mods compared to what i paid for the car itself.

just wait.. it will hit you... nice and hard and you will like it
