Only if the filter was too small to let enough air in. If you have the right sized filter, it shouldn't make that much of a difference. It's a really good way to suck trash into your engine and damage it though
K&N filters flow so well that the difference would be very minimal. It might be a good experiment though, to see how long you could go without sucking garbage into your engine.
my cone filter on the fukkus fell off once while i was driving.... as soon as i stopped the engine died, i picked it up from the road and drove home without it on, i had to keep giving it gas because it would just stall and die under 1200k.
