A tune around here is about 500-600 dollars and 2 + hours away, I'd rather get a wideband and do it myself.
do what yourself? without an ems to go with that wide band you cant tune the car. and no, you cant tune it with base timing and fuel pressure.
We have been tuning our SC Fox bodies with just fuel pressure and timing for years. We had 2 making over 550 RWHP with stock computer and no chip.

Not much tuning you can do on a Fox body stock computer. It is not like the modern computers where you have data logging and complete control of everything. We had a tuner to work on our 88 GTone time, he put in a chip, put it on the dyno, 20 pulls later, he gave up, we took the chip out, tuned the fuel pressure and timing, to make more Hp than it did with the chip. 2 years later, it is still running with the same tune, we recently put the chip back in to remove the rev limiter but left the tune stock.
