My car won't do it... I have it in 1 put it in d and then put it back to 1 after it shifts then it just goes back to 1st gear... Is there a problem or is my trans ok.. I don't doit that often just every once and a while

Unless you want to ruin your trans for good I would stop doing it.

 

Its used for carrying out the 2-3 shift

1-d-1 just lets you control the shift point from 2-3. The trans will downshift to 1 if you are not keeping it under hard load. However it is not supposed to up shift into 3(D) unless you manually move the shifter into that position. It may be hard on the trans tho, at least acording to all the chimers in.

 

My trans builder isn't very worried about the 1d1 shift, he does it on his and doesn't have anyissues.TCI makes their valve bodies and reccomends that you do the 1d1 shuffle.
