Default Looking at some Drag radials

Okay, I'm your basic engine guy / eec tuner guy. That's the stuff I normally do and that's what i fel comfortable doing. But now I'm way out of my league here and need some help. I'm talking about tires

I want to keep my stock rims, but I want to replace my two rear tires with a set of drag radials. Right now I'm running 225/55/ZR16s all around. I was hoping to find a nice pair of DOT drag radials that would fit those without problems.

Any suggestions?

Here are a couple i was looking at:

Nitto NT555R
Tread Depth: 6/32'
Tire Overall Diameter:
25.67'
Tire Section Width:
9.80'
Wheel Diameter:
16'
Spec Wheel Width:
7.0-7.5-8.5'
Max Load @ Max Press:
1576 lbs @ 44 psi
Revs Per Mile:
811

BF Goodrich G-Force T/A
Tire Section Width on
Measuring Wheel Width*:
10.3' on 8.0' Wheel
Tire Overall Diameter:
26.1'
New Tire Roll Out/
Circumference:
82.0'
Tire Tread Depth:
6/32'
Wheel Diameter:
16'
Required Wheel Width:7.0' - 9.0'
Revolutions per Mile at 45-MPH:
793.0
Max Load (lbs@psi):1687 lbs. @ 44 psi

Any thoughts of comments? If I'm not mistaken, those should fit with no issues. But like I said... I'm a bolt-on boy / tuner, lol. So this is a bit out of my area of expertise. [8D]

MT makes a 255-50-16 that would work well on those rims

Yeah, this will be DD.

Will 255s be too big for stock ponies?

Are the 555s really that bad? I've seen a lot of people run them, but I've never seen them on a DD so I don't know how well they last.

I would go with the Nittos or M/T's. When I was at the track I was talking to the track manager and he said that BF'S were the worst tire on the planet. So, I talked to a few other guys that were at the track and they all said the same thing. I'm ordering a set of M/T's tomorrow myself.

sam, trust me whatever you do don't get the 555's... The tread doesn't get very soft and they hook "slightly" better than my street BFG KDW's... This is on my s197. I run normal 1.9 60ft's with street tires anda lower 1.9 60 ft on the drag radials... I adjusted the psi from 20 down to 15 and results were the same. I had the opportunity to do this at a track rental day where I got to hot lap all day.

I'm ordering some M/T Drag Radials tomorrow for my 5.0... 275/50/15 for my Weld Draglites... Anybody know the cheapest place to purchase them? I was looking at Jegs or summit, but I would love a cheaper price.
