Replacement Door Panels
Just wondering if anyone has purchased replacement door panels from 50Resto.com and performed the swap themselves. I am interested in going with a new set of panels, but am hesistant at trying to perform the swap. Just trying to get some insight from those that have done this themselves. Perhaps I should just go to an upholstery shop and get them to do it, though I don't like that idea as it will make a 160 dollar project jump by quite a bit I imagine.
got a question. my passenger door panel was off and outside and well it rained on it and got the back cardboard wet and like warped it. it has all kinds of waves and stuff on it. is there anyway i can get a replacement carboard backing thing then put my vinyl and stuff on the new board? anyone make those boards?
I never tried the new panels, but from what I understand you have to re-use some of the parts from your old panels, namely the formed metal piece at the top. Also, I question the quality of them because the insert behind the armrest is not an insert, it is part of the panel(cheesy) If you are fairly skilled the install shouldn't be too hard tho, I re-did my doorpanels from scratch, New hardboadr backers and new vinyl and it wasn't to much of a PITA! Just take your time!
Lowes, 4x8 sheet of 3/16 hardboard. Take the old one, lay it on top and mark the outline and all the mounting holes. Couple hours with a jig saw and a drill and you will be better than new.
4 feet by 8 feet? is that for both? and also i just called my local hardware store and they only have 1/4 and 1/8... would any of those work? or do youknow if lumber places would carry it?
Just called all the local lumber hardare places and they all only carry 1/8th and 1/4th.
