When I first got it:
Junk motor, Junk transmission.

Engine is done, trans is done, almost there. Built both of them.
Ran into 1 problem with the engine - putting the RH valve cover on, i broke off not 1 but 3 ****ty bolts into my heads. 1 broke off when I was taking them off the first time, and I should have just bought new bolts, but I tried to use em. Oh well, lesson learned. So I have to drill and tap those, and get new bolts for my valve cover.. then it's completely finished.
Will it need repairs of stuff that won't turn out the way i hope it will? Probably. I did my best to set it all up right. The transmission is built awesome - that thing is indestructable. It's an AOD.. shimmed throttle limit valve, shift kit, heavy duty input/output shafts, larger heavy duty pump, 4 extra clutch plates in the direct clutch, wide planetary gear set, extra clutches stuffed in all over the place, every part some form of fabrication, deep oil pan, brand new seals and gaskets, 1750 stall TQ converter.
The coolest part on the trans is something completely origional that my uncle thought of and created himself, and there is a pretty good chance that there is NO other AOD out there with this modification. However, it's something that will be hard to picture if you've never done trans work.. on the valve body, there's a check valve that pushes clutches back and forth for 2nd gear to engage and disengage.. we found that spot, and drilled a hole through the plating to build and relieve pressure. When 2nd gear is engaged, oil goes through the hole and pressures the valve and engages the plates.. and when 2nd gear is disengaged, the oil goes back down through the hole and into the oil pan. The engine was a 60k miles police interceptor 302 with all forged internals and a roller cam, which I stripped, cleaned/painted, then completely rebuilt and re-sealed. Every internal on the motor looked gorgeous. I don't expect to have ANY problems with it. I just have to get that valve cover taken care of, and the motor's good to go. Using the power steering pump which is fine.. new alternator, new water pump, new timing chain/gears.. all taken care of.
I got my good electric fuel pump, a good fuel pressure regulator, a good ignition system.. the breaks are fine, I put new shocks on, the rear end is getting a 8.8 3.73 with a posi.. fresh paint and a fresh interior, cleaned it all up..
It's coming. I'm still left trying to find my fuel return line though! I want to have a return line off of my fuel pressure regulator's bypass - do we have one, or do I need to run my own?
Whatcha think?
