Default 302 Block Identification?

My buddy's 302 just blew a head gasket and when we took it apart to put some new ones in I saw that in his lifter valley his block was stapmed XXX is that anything because mine dosen't have that stamp? I know when he bought the car the stock heads had some porting done and the pre. owner put an intake on it and some other things so I dont know if for some reasin he changed the block? So im asking what does the XXX stamp mean?

Triple X- rated. That engine is nasty. No, it is a stock engine, some were stamped with xxx, some were not. I think i read once that they stamped them for certain year foxbody's.
