(TPS) Throttle Positioning Sensor
Hey guys, i had a question. I own an 89 Mustang gt hatch. How would i know if my TPS was no good? What would the car do if it was no good? I think mine is no good. Thanks
I think it's "no good ". jk. Check the voltage. One lead to a ground and one lead to i think the green wire. I beleive it should be around .95 to .99. I am sure someone knows the correct readings you should have.
symptoms may include hesitations while pushing down on accelerator if there were spots on the tps that register opens....simple enough to know you can run a koeo/koer test which will test the integrity of the sensors/system after that you can check the tps ground and 5 volt reference wires to make sure your getting supply to the sensor and after that you can back probe the signal return wire and with a multimeter set on volts slowly open the trottle plate and look for a smooth rise in voltage readings and if it goes to opens in some spots ...you'll know you have a problem.......ARE YOU HAVING A DRIVABILITYPROBLEM WITH THE CAR????
I've been trying to time the car at 14 degrees but it won't run right. I set the tps at .998 and when i take off it kind of hesitates a little. when i start the car up the idle bounces a lot. I think that problem is the Idle air control motor though. Thats another story. Thanks for everyone's help reguarding my issueI really appreciate it guys.
