Default door jam cleaning

i am getting the car sprayed in a week and a half and i am just getting the same color painted on it again. the jams aren't getting done but i would like to wax or buff them or something but i haven't a clue what to buy or how to do it. so any suggestions would be great.

on a unrelated question. i am doing the door bushings over and i need a rivet gun and rivets. can i buy any rivet gun or a specific one and the same thing goes for the rivets. are they all the same or are there all sorts of different kinds and sizes. never dealt with rivets yet so talk to me like i am stupid.

No rivet gun for bushings, just a hammer a an extra hand helps

I just use spray nine on the nasty ****. Its will take away paint but will get all the grime off if its bad. If its not so bad just use some ammonia glass cleaner. Like the rattle can kind, not windex.

+100000 NO SILICON BASEDCOMPOUNDS B4 PAINTING!!!!1!1!!!11!!! this will cause fish-eyes (or cratering) in the clear coat. trust me i used to paint cars. and no wax for 60-90 days after painting. i laid down an awesome 3 stage paint jobon an oldsmobile for a guy and told him no wax for 60-90 days.1 month later he came back to the shop and complained theclear coathad dulled out. i asked him if he had waxed it like i told him not to. hesaid yes. i just shook my head and said, oh well dude! like previously stated, used a good cleaner and scrub by hand. and lay off the tire shine also before painting. that **** gets everywhere. nothing pissed me off more than having to clean 5 pounds of tire shine off a car when prepping it. if you feelyou needto wax the car after painting, ask the bodyshop or find a autobody supply store and ask for a non-silicon based polish. 3M makes a nice hand glaze that has no silicon and leaves a really nice shine.
