didyou install your diff?
I did my own (rebuilt the whole rear... all new bearings and races, seals, gears, clutch packs, shims, axles), but I had a buddy there who works at a garage and does them all the time... just in-case I ran into trouble or wasn't doing something right or had a question. Now that I've done one for myself, all the mystery is gone and there really isn't much to it... the next time will be much easier.
im gunna be learning how to do them very soon as well as rebuilding the trac loc and if you actually take the time to look at it its not all that complicated. but i suggest that you dont do it by yourself if you have never done it before
I've rebuilt 3 rear ends. It is not the easiest thing to do. Like capri said once you do the first one the rest are easier. It takes some mech. knowledge and ability. If you dont feel comfortable, get someone to install. Call around and get the best price you can.
If you've never done it then get someone or pay someone who has....you need to understang such things as pinion depth, backlash, preload and how to set preload on the pinion bearing and not screwing up the crush collar...cause you only get one shot at that then you'll have to get a new one if you screw up and start all over......
I did my own gears and diff rebuild. Works great, no noise. It was my first one, but I read alot about how to do it and had experienced friends nearby to answer any questions.
