1988 Mustang GT stalling problem need help
I just got a 1988 Mustang GT 5.0L 5 speed fuel injected and no mass air flow about 3 months ago. The car was sitting for about a year in good shape but rough idle and running when I first got it. Every once in a while the car stalls and wont restart. The problem happens when I stop to get gas or run into a store and the car has ran a short distance 10 miles at the mostand I come back out after no longer than 10 minutes and the car starts and right away stalls. It will not restart. I wait about 5-10 minutes and try again still wont start. The engine turns over but just wont start. This only happens about every few weeksfor the past few months. But the lastweek it has happened twice. Have it towed home and let it sit for a couple of hours and it starts right back up.So in the past couple of months I have done a full tune-up on the car (plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter), cleaned the intake with intake cleaner, put a couple bottle of fuel injector cleaner in the car, replaced the coil with an aftermarket coil, I have also replaced the fuel pump (aftermarket high flow)hoping to fix the problem. I have since replaced the injectorsto fix the miss in the engine. The stalling problem was there before I replaced the injectors and I was hopingit fixed the stalling problem but still there. The injectors are 19lb injectors so a little over stock injectors. (made the car come alive). I am out of ideas tothrow at this car.Now I am asking for some real help. Please if anyone has had this problem please give me ideas that I have not yet tried.
I have only owned my car for a few months now but my old car, Acura Integra (I know I know) but I had the same problem and it happened to be the main fuel relay and another friend, it was a bad ground. So I guess check your grounds out as well. I might be wrong, I am sure someone will correct me before you go through the hassle. Good luck tho.
