seriously man drain the fluid and while you drain it put your hand under it and see if you catch any pieces of metal that will tell you right there that you need a rebuild.

When I changed my rear gears I overhauled the trac-lok and I added an extra friction plate on each side. I shimmed it up pretty tight. Sometimes it will clunk around tight turns, turning into parking lots, etc. I used conventional gear oil plus modifier for break in and then synthetic after that. It still clunks on occasion. I don't really do burn outs to check the breakaway torque on the trac-lok though.
