Ford racing crate engine
Does anyone have an opinion on the ford racing crate engine that makes 345 hp/ im thinking of just buying one of these and being done with it no more guess work and yadda yadda, i know that different cylinder heads and an intake combo would make more power but as far as the quality goes on them... there brand new anyone have one? thanks for the comments opinions ahead of time... figure you can just mod the crate engine down the road with a blower or hci

They are crap
$3,500 for Ford 345hp motor .......
$1,700 for 347 short block from PARA or Fordstrokers.com
$2,000 head/cam from Jay Allen. ( no guess work, your head and cam combo will make POWER!!!! )
---------
$3,700 for custom 475+hp motor.
hmmm, sounds a little better to me.

RE: Ford racing crate engine
yea but my stock block has 85000 miles on it its a ttop car and im thinking of holding the stock block incase down the road these cars are worth something it can be matching numbers
i have a ocd with new parts going in next to old parts i guess also so this crate engine would solve that after my body work gets done u dont think this crate engine with a gurdle could handle like a s trim down the road?

Yes, use your money wisely, dont throw it away on a 345hp Ford POS, when you can have
a 475+hp engine for same money.
Those prices are with you getting a new block.
I just had a buddy did this.
Got a 347 short block from PARA, Fordstrokers.com has same thing
347 shortblock ........ $1,699
Then he got a custom cam with matching Canfield heads all set to
work together and pull to 6,500rpm
Cost .............. $2,000-2,100 cant remember exact., came with billet timing chain too.
Total Cost ........... $3,700 for same parts you get with Ford Crate engine, minus oil pan.
His engine should make close to 500hp, for same money

now would you guys chose the 331 or 347 if you wanted to lets say add a blower latter on or maybe some spray...

You're already pushing block limits with either a 331 or 347.
Might as well just go 347 and cross your fingers every time you spray it.
If you want boost, you need to decide now and build for it from the get-go.
You could just build a strong 306 and boost the hell out of it at 15-18psi, if you wanted to go that route.

RE: Ford racing crate engine
Let me ask this question...
What about reliability... I know that a 400hp engine wont last as long as something a bit milder...
A milder engine may have better divability and better gas mileage.
I know FRPP doesn't have a warranty on any of their goods, but I'm sure that the longevity of the engineshould be there...
Could I be wrong or right???
