Default 'Verts vs. Hatch/notches

How much heavier are fox verts than a hatch or notch, and what needs to be done to get them as stiff as the other cars?

Also, what are the track rules on them? I dont want to have to put a rollcage in a vert[:'(]

My guess is that a Fox vert isabout 400lbs heavier than a notch.
In my case , I have full length sub frames and chrome wheels which adds about 50lbs more.
Please don't ask me what my 1/4 mile time is. [sm=boohoo.gif]
I need to upgrade EVERYTHING.
If I could go back in time, I will buy my selfa black notch.[sm=burnout.gif]

I'm planning on building up a 351 whether I buy a notch or a vert, so I'm not real concerned with how slow they are with bolt on 5.0 Thanks though

Anyone know at what times/trap speeds a rollcage becomes mandatory?

EDIT: BTW, you have the best looking vert on the site

Just a quick google. Might want to double check with your local track though.

The NHRA rule book states it as follows...
ROLL BAR
Roll bar manditory in all cars running 11.00 to 11.99, in convertables running 11.00 to 13.99...

ROLL CAGE
Roll cage manditoryin cars running 10.99or quicker or any car exceeding 135 mph. In full-bodied cars, with unaltered firewall, floor, and body (from firewall rearward, wheel tubs permitted), running between 10.00 and 10.99,roll bar permitted in place of cage. In convertables running 10.99 or quicker or exceding 135 mph, roll cage manditory.

My local track would be Bandimere Speeway, which is on the NHRA circuit, so I'm sure it goes by those outlines.

Looks like Ill only be looking for a notch again. Thanks for your help

If you are building a 351 than you will need a rollcage and subframe connectors with the vert. They are nice for crusing with the top down but are a waste to build for a drag car.

Weight depends on the year. My 84 weighs 3200#. At least a 5 point bar is needed now at 13.49.
