Default Non-5.0 question for the techs

Sorry for the non-5.0 question, but my daily beater has a problem...

1998 2.2L S-10... I went to do the crank trigger tonight and the damn thing busted off at the head and is now stuck in the block. I searched the S10 forums some and found all sorts of recommendations. I already tried running a screw into it and yanking with a pry bar... Tomorrow I'm going to try the same thing with a slide hammer.

Any other thoughts?

if it has a crank sensor in the block ...drill a hole and use a easy out and spray some PB BLASTER around it....PB blaster putd the harry home owner WD -40[:'(] to shame!!!

It's pretty tough to get a drill in down to it. I suppose if all else fails I'll have the hole the drywall screw left to try to use.

Thanks.

edit:

Dime: The head of it snapped off and left the remainder in the block, stuck to all hell.

matt: Yes... Crank position sensor, and on an S10 2.2 it is mounted directly below the coil packs (passenger side on the bottom of the block)

might think this is a dumb idea, but you might try a powerful magnent to put up against the sensor and see if that'll pull it out. I know wal-mart has really powerful underwater magnents in the boating section that are cheap....just an idea.

its got a plastic case.

There is a magnent inside the plastic which is rather powerful, Its a variable reluctive sensor which creates AC voltage.

thats why I think I'd at least try it.

sounds like your going to have to drill it out... not much more choice, unless you have some left to get vise grips or something on...
