Educate me on 5.0
used to own a 4.6 totaled it. now a guy i know has a 90 gt with a huffer ,15psi the guy says
looks to have the stock intake. I need some estimated power #s. i assume the bottom end has been built. I know if it was a 4.6 it might last 3mins with 15psi

well, a 90 has forged pistons from the factory, so they are boost friendly right out of the box.
15 psi with a stock intake, i seriously doubt.
heres a good way to tell if he's ****tin you or not.
anyone running that much boost, its almost guaranteed that there is a vacuum/boost gauge in the car somewhere. take it for a rip and watch the gauge.
also, feel free to ask the guy what kind of S/C it has, and post it here, and we'll tell you what it is, etc...
it's possible to change pulleys for more boost, but 15psi is really pushin it on a stock bottom end, etc..
plus the fact that the intake appears stock, i would bet that he is lying to sell the car fast, possibly because he can't find a problem that it has.
power numbers are gonna be hard to guess.
15psi on a completely stock motor should bring somewhere around 325-350rwhp, which if driven correctly should equate to somewhere around a 12 second quarter mile time.
Ask him if he's taken it to the track, and if so, what were his times.

yah, the powerdyne S/C's really are junk.
the problem is that the unit itself breaks from the inside out, whether it be a frozen bearing or whatever...
i've seen numerous people on here with powerdyne units, the impeller lets go and shatters, and sends large metal fragments straight into the combustion chambers.
within a matter of seconds, the car will go from running great under boost, to completely ****in dead. most people need a new bottom end and heads when it happens.

there is however a company that rebuilds the powerdyne units with supposedly better parts, and they guarantee that they won't fail.
i havn't heard of anyone doing this though, so i have no info on whether its true or not.

Hmm thats not exactly what i wanted to hear. but pretty much what I thought may have to pass it up and keep lookin. he wants 4500 probly get em down to 4 idk what do yall think, its got a straight body.
depends on the mileage, number of owners, who hacked what... etc...
4k seems reasonable if the mileage is somewhat low and the body is straight...
if you do get it, i highly suggest taking that S/C to a reputable speed shop and have it inspected, possibly rebuilt if necessary.
next time you go look at it, ask him to disconnect the piping from the unit to the intake, and grab that impeller shaft and try to wiggle it all around.
if it has ANY play, whatsoever, do not buy that car, or at least get rid of that s/c.
