Problems with my fox, help plz
Howdy y'all. I've been lurking for awhile now, figured I might as well actually join the community and spill all my problems on ya
Any, I have searched and done some research and just want to check up on things.
Lil background info. I'm currently in school (about 3 1/2 hrs away from home) and don't currently have my stang up here. So, its at home with my parents. I put insurance and plates on it yesterday since my lifted exploder doesn't get the best gas millage out there.
So, my stang has a lil problem. It runs good, but the first couple thousand rpm it hesitates and cuts out real bad when gas is applied. So, doing a lil research I have my dad check out my IAV. He said that it was gummed up and he cleaned it with some carb cleaner. Needless to say it didn't help.
He went out yesterday and bought me a new TPS and put it on. Again, it didn't help. He did screw the sensor all the way in by the way.
So, I'm on fall break this weekend and plan on going home to get this car going so I can bring it back to school. Heres my questions...
1. Do I need to try and set or calibrate the new tps? Could this alleviate my problems?
2. Could it possibly be a bad IAV? My dad cleaned mine out...
3. Cracked or bad vacuum lines? I'll have to check it out this weekend.
4. Any other possibilities? such as injectors, anything, etc ... lol
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Cody

well number 1 you need a multimeter to set the tps to what most people do here is between .96...to ....98 volts......and as for the hesitation could be alot of things...you could run a koeo/koer test and check for codes....if that yields nothing....then check tune up parts like plugs wires cap and rotor... since it's an 86 I assume there is no mass air meter conversion done to it...but if there has been clean it...
also check for vaccum leaks that'll also cause lean misses/hesitations

Thanks for the input guys, i'll set about getting a code reader and see where I can go from there.

you don't need to buy a scanner to run codes there is a way by shorting/grounding out the test connector with a paper clip and counting the flashes of the light....do a search here on the forums and or check the stickys... u can also run a koer test and power balance test too it's listed on the forums here
