Default firing order

hey, i have a 88 mustang GT. I did a intake manifold gasket, had coolent leak. Now it will turn over and not start. It did run fine before i tore it apart. I am going to check all the electrical connections in the morning and the vacume lines. And i need to make sure i have my wires correct, so im looking for the firing order, and were to start on the distributor. also, on the passenger side of hte motor, there were 5 electrical connections that would fit into the 4 injectors, how would i test and make sure i have the right ones pluged into the right places.

thanks

The picture of the above distributor is WRONG for the 5.0

The sequence is right, but all the numbers need to be shifted counter clock-wise one position.
Common mistake, even seen it printed that way in a Chilton or Haynes book before too.
It will run that way, but your injector timing will be slightly off.

what about timing. i had to take the distributor out, how would i make sure i get the distributor back in the same spot? if i were to have jumped a gear on the cam where it drives the distributor would that make timing off? im just about possitive i have gas, i know i have spark, but its just not firing. Just turns over and when i stop turning over it backfires a lil bit.

13 isnt bad.... about 18 is as high as you can go without pinging though.. I would bump it up to between 15-18, see how it does with high octane gas then drop it if necessary
