Default MM Steering Shaft

Is anyone running one of these or a similar one. Mine is barely rubbing my header,I know I can shim it butI want to upgrade the steering anyway. my question is

1. Does it allow more header clearance

2. Will I feel a difference in steering

Ifound a flaming river 1 for $170 do you think its as good as the MM
