gear drives are great, but im not about to put one on my car. there is no stretch like any chain, no slop, very accurate, but very noisy, their loud

reason im leaving the double roller on my car, and not going to a gear drive, is price

Even the quiet gear drives are noisy. We recently used one and it is coming out this winter. Also Reher-Morrison found through a series of dyno comparisons that they lost over 15 hp using a gear drive on a BBC. I can't imagine it would be any different for a SBF. I say stay away from them.

They also can transfer unwanted harmonics to the crank. They are out-dated technology, use a good double roller or a belt drive if have some coin.

there is no reason NOT to run a double roller chain... i mean hell.. you can buy them with gears for $25
