Just got pulled over yest. by a highway patrol and told me to pop open my hood and got me for my k&n intake...want to know what brand or cold air intake is smog legal???

My MAC fender well CAI has an EO # which has passesed calif visual smog inspection for the past 8 yrs. I'm not sure about the BBK fender well CAI though.

BTW.. what was the reasoning for him asking you to pop open your hood?

yea your an idiot. you shouldve asked him what for. then he wouldve said something stupid, then you ask him for probable cause. then he says something you know is bs yet again and you reply that he doesnt have a justified cause to see your engine bay and that you will gladly sit and wait for him to get a court ordered search if he so wants it. he stands there stupified and feeling like a **** grubbling peice of **** he is and then writes you a ticket you were going to get anyway(speeding, illegal lane change, whatever the hell he pulled you over for) and he leaves and you feel impowered and smart. cops lie to get you for stupid stuff.

I think he was just messing with you because the air filter and pipe leading to the intake does not have anything to do with the emissions of the car, it just keeps trash from getting into the engine and lets the air flow better. It might let more air in and filter out more trash but it is your computer that determines how much fuel to mix with that air so you can run it with no filter and still be legal. Not sure if you cought the cop at a bad time or you did not act nice to him, but he made you have to waste time going to court to get out of the ticket. Good luck.

Can't tell where you are from but I am not aware of any laws governing intakes. Did you get a ticket and for what!

if he lives in cali, then every performance part you put on the car has to have a smog sticker or its illegal. just be smart next time and know your rights.

That's exactly the reason why what ever I bought had an EO#.
But if they want to jerk you around they'll find something. Ain't it lovely living in Calif.
