picked up my new bumper:)
its been driving me nutts since the wreck so i got this at the boneyard 2 days ago for $40. it has a few scratches and was dirty as hell but who cares its not cracked and its already the closest to the correct colors. being a 87 style on a 86 i think will make people who know their mustangs a lil confused since i have 87 wing, windows, mirrors ( yes 86 mirrors are slightly differant than 87) and 87 steeringwheel!! lol, only 86 stuff is the nose and interior/dash. infact all the back interior plastic is getting switched to 93 plastic after i fix my rear qrtr pnl. anyways finding a clean 85-86 rear bumper is pretty damn hard

i found a nice surprise when i pulled the old cover off a few minutes ago! wow this car was really rearended hard. as soon as its more light out ill take a pic, but the middle of my bumper looks like a big letter "V". so i need a new inner bumper. the new bumper fits over it fine and everything lines up so so considering i have not really banged out or pulled out the side much. its off by maybe a 1/4 inch here and there.its not a matter of welding in a new panel since the corner is actually tweeked , so im not real sure how im going to go about it. i can half azz it real easily but i dont want too. i would like to get it all done today but ill prolly just put the bumper cover on for now

look what i found under my old bumper cover!!lol , hmmm i think it got hit before. this wasnt from me either. so looks like i gotta get a new bumper at the boneyard today, glad i never got rearended while it was like this

yeah i bought a new inner bumper. everthing is as well banged out as i can get it for now, except i have to take my wheel off and fix the lip u see all messed up in the pics. i cant find a good peice of trim at the bone yard, oh well

thanks, yeah but i cant quite get my trim to fit so i have a bit more tweeking to do, its always gunna look a lil rough, but so does everyother damn panel on this car

Did you change out the bumper struts/absorbers? As bad as your bumper looked it might be a good idea, they are really only good for one hard impact. I got rear ended in my Capri, the bumper cover looked good but it messed the bumper up almost as bad as yours. When I pulled my absorbers out and replaced them you could see how far they got shoved in and the difference in length compared to the new ones where they didn't fully return after being hit.
