Default 6 speed swap

hey yall, planin on doing a 6sp swap in the spring time, but thought i would start researching it and put together a budget to see if its even possible, so here we go. I got an 88 GT convertable with a automatic trans. dont know which trans it is. I was looking at the TKO 600. That is a 6sp correct? what do you all hear about it and how it prefroms? what kinda of HP is it able to withstand? along with the transmission, i need a new subframe for the trans? then i will need the pedal assembly, linkage, clutch, pressure plate, flywheel. am i missing anything?

most trannies are rated in ft/lbs, ft/lbs is the actual force being applied, while HP is a number based on your engines abilitie to make ft/lbs at a given RPM. It depends on the t-56. the baseline stock one is rated at 280 ft/lbs i believe, the viper spec is rated to 6-700 ft/lbs i believe, and there are built ones that companies sell that go for $4500+ that will take upwards of 1400 ft/lbs.

if ur goin to a 6spd, dont waste ur time with just a reg t-56. get the viper spec with the .50 overdrive.
