Default What am i missing?

Ok I thought I could just remove the AC condensor from the pulley setup and then get a belt for a non-A/C car. So I bought it and the belt rubs against itself above the water pump, right after the tensioner. The diagram shows that the path for a A/C-less 5.0 is the same as with A/C except it just goes straight to the PS pump instead of around the AC condensor. Am I missing something? Is there anything different on non-AC cars? I tried using the search and it brought up "none found." Please help

First of all, it's the compressor, not the condensor. On the non a/c cars, the p/s pump is where the compressor is. Yes, you are missing something, the a/c delete pulley needed to do what you want.

My P/S pump is located where the compresser would be on your car. You may be able to move you pump up, I'm not sure, but I think the brackets look the same.

Your ac must have been removed. As long as your belt doesn't rub, don't worry it is fine

Wow Stanger that is a really nice and cleanengine bay! So willthe kits that put the PS in place of the A/C use the belt for a regular, non-A/C car? Thanks for your help

It should work with you ps pump in the original location. I have seen it done. Try a shorter belt. I would bet your tensioner is pusing the belt down into the water pump.

ford racing and other companies sell the relocation bracket that moves the powersteering pump up to where the ac compressor was. i think i might have the complete kit used off of the notch i used to have. then all you need is the short belt for the non ac cars.
