you can rent a valve spring compressor tool at autozone for like $20. you get it all back when you return it

I am not to sure what a lapping suction cup is! hahaha anyways this s what I did to ge the valve springs retainers loose. I had a hell of a time getting them off, when I used the tool the retainers always went down with the spring and never came loose. Then again that engine had like 260,000 k on it. So if they are being stubborn do this

-Take a old deep socket I think I used 7/16 or 9/16
-Place it over the valve spring so it sits on the edges of the retainers
-Proceed to whap it with a big fÃ*n hammer 4-5 times
-This will knock the retainers loose (sometimes it even loosened one right out)
-Place compression tool on spring, then compress it all the way
-Use alot of back and for up and down motions to get the retainer unseated
-Might have to use some needle nose pliers to give the lil buggers help out.

Mine were kinda tricky if you need to know anything else give me a shout.

I am running the same timing chain. I bought it before I took mine apart, guy told me it was a double roller[:@] I didn't know the difference. Works fine for me...only cost less than $20 and I plan on a 351 build anyway.
