Default random worthless question.

This is probably a waste of a post but i was just curious if anyone might be able to help me. I bought a 1991 mustang gt and the speedo is off by almost exactly 10mph. Im assuming it is off because it has gears and the speedo tooth wasnt replaced. Its an automatic also. Is this a logical explantion? Also, can anyone estimate what they gears MIGHT be that are in there? I currently have a broken back and cant exactly go check heh.

One way to find out what your rear gearing is is to jack up the rear end of the car, put it in neutral, disengage the parking/e-brake, mark the driveshaft and then rotate it by rolling the tires.

Then count how many times the driveshaft turns per one revolution of the tires. Three and three-quarters of a turn is going to be 3.73's; just a tad over four turns will be 4.10's; three and a half turns will be 3.55's; etc.
