Default Anyone good with headlight wiring?

my 86 Gt has been having all kind of probs with headlight wiring. To make a long story short I found a wire that has to much power. It is the black/orange wire that hooks to the fuse box and the other side of the fuse is the headlight switch power. I used the test light and it was so bright it blinded me. I used a fuseable link instead and fuses blow quick, too much power to that wire. I will get a pick soon, the car is at someone elses house. Anyone know what would cause this or how to fix?

There are 2 black with orange stripe wires, the other goes to the headlight switch and another spot on the fuse box. The one thats too hot goes to the very top right corner fuse

you need to use a multimeter to see how many volts are on the wire and see what the current draw is..ie the amperage draw...if a fuse blows there is a short somewhere
