I have no idea how much it is...or where to get one for that matter....lol. one of my friends just suggested it. I dunno tho...when I had my 89 chevy full size, it didn't have a smog pump at all, and the cats were fine....i just dont want to own the cats on my mustang.

hmmmm thats a neat idea for the people that live in Nazifornia, but what, what if you just have the pump bolted but bypassed and blocked off? its only neccesary at startup, soo... just drive around before you test, make sure you have 4 cats inplace and you should pass

RE: electric smog pumo?
I actually passed already. I have a bbk x-pipe with cats. not four tho...hmmm. I just wanted to eliminate the smog pump and water pump by making them both electric. Just a thought. I was just lookin for some input. Has anyone ever seen an aftermarket one for our cars? Cause I was thinking about custom fabbing one from a corvette.

The pump has to be there and working to pass visual on smog in California. Meziere makes good electric water pumps

Im pretty sure that if you dont have your pump working that you will foul your cats
the pump IS used at start up its true, but the diverter valve blows the pump's air into the heads at startup, then it adds oxygen via smog pumped regular air - to the cats to burn up the unburnt crap, (products of combustion) otherwise no oxygen to allow the burn and if no extra oxygen the cats get coated with crud. just my understanding
