Default Issue with clutch pedal...

HEy everyone. Just picked up an 89 and im having an issue with the clutch. The pedal moves 3/4" before the quadrant evevn budges. Im not sure how the assembly is, as far as how the pedal connects. I can only see so much. Is the shaft the pedal sits on splined and sos the pedal? I just dont understand how the pedal can move so much without the shaft/ quadrant moving too. Thanks guys!

I put the Ford racing clutch cable and aluminuma quadrant on my 90GT 5.0 and didnt have to space it. But I really wouldnt have noticed 3/4' play to be honest.
