i have an 88 gt, and had an 88 iroc, ive raced the two against eachother numerous times, stock for stock, or mod for mod(exhaust, short shifter/shift kit) and the mustang always came out on top... yes the iroc was a 350tpi car... with 3.73s at that... to the mustangs 3.08

When I was in Highschool ( 88-91 ) there was no rice.
There was no real aftermarket "mods" available.
Its was 5.0's, I-Rocs and the first Turbo Eclipses and TT-300ZX
5.0's ruled the streets.
Although we used to sneak out my moms brand new Q45 that first come out in
'91 and go stomp all over 5.0's with a 4 door sedan. That car was INSANE !!!

I don't care what anybody says you can drop so much money into an ls1 and drop all that money into a fox and 99 percent of the time fox will womp all over it. i had a buddy that a 2000 Z28 383 stroker heads, cam, Moser rear end 410 gears, everything you could think of other than haveing a power adder, when it was all said and done counting price of car he had around 30,000 grand i had at the time a 93 Gt with stock shortblock heads cam paxton Novi 1000 5,6 lbs boost, stock rear end with 373. He kept talking carp say all my cars going to walk on your car i only had including car price about 11,500 dollar in car so winter was over we went to track both running slicks he went 12.1 116mph and i was runnin 11.80 118mph all i have to say is if i had 30 grand in that car it would be a whole new ball game, but now that cars gone and i got a 88 notch with 408 and he don't want none of that he knows better that car has ate vettes and a whole **** tone of ls1, Funny thing is im not talking bad about Ls1 i like them cause for one my girl friend which i have a daughter with she is driving a 2000 camaro Z28to which i have to drive all the time cause she drives are trailblazer

I used to own a 1973 Plymousth scamp (same as dodge dart), my dad owns a 1975 vette, and now i have a mustang.
Parts for the dodge were by far more expensive than the chevy or ford, but then parts for the chevy were far cheaper than for the ford.
People need to just learn to appriciate each car for what it is, who cares about who made it [&:]

noss..thats cute. well from the sounds of it,doesnt seem like you can afford a worthwhile stroker motor,why not just find a low miles 302 shortblock,get some gt40 heads and intake...and spray the crap out of it. hell,you could be running low 12s for a grand if ya play your cards right.

I know that and respect that, read my other post- im 16, obviously i dont have a lot of money, which will be changing soon with my new job. and also i know that throwing money at anything is not the best way to do things and usually the worst way but i do need some money to make this work

i have to disagree with the chevy parts being cheaper than the fords. that is why i got a mustang, because there are some many different parts and they are CHEAP!!! and im sorry i can't believe that a stock 5.0 would come close to a camaro of the same year. i had an 85 corvette with the TPI and it WHOOPED on my buddies 98 cobra till he did work to it. i also had two 95 firebird formulas and they both had the LT1 motor, and they too put a beatin on GT mustangs all day long. One of my friends had a black and gold iroc-z, onehad a 35th ann. mustang, one had a 95 GT convert, and the other had a 98 cobra. dont get me wrong they are all good cars but you have to give credit where credit is due.

i have taken out lt1 vetts and maro's with the mods i have now. which is not much... on the streets if i have my slicks and the ls1 is stock we are neck and neck, usually i get the upper hand..... as for the 80's and early 90's camaro and stangs. when i waspretty much stock (just a CAI and off R hpipe)and stock 2.73's.. i wasbeating irocs and z28's off the line and on the freeway... i have never raced a irac that has beat me. close but i always pull up top. im not saying they cant i just never ran into a fast one....... and as for the old school car stuff it takes them a bit to make them quick. H/C/I 71 350 camaro is just as quick as i am, but up top i get them..... im just sharing my experiences, i like all cars but the only gm i would actully get is late 60's camaro or a ls1 trans am.
