Default intake manifold

im going to be getting a new intake manifold. i herd that the trickflow street heat would be a good choice. ive looked on summit and it shows a streetburner is that the same thing? also how much hp gains would i get with a new intake and a 70 or 75mm throttle body. one of the 2 is mandatory to get but i forget which one. also i was wondering, i read somewhere that the speed density system is in the intake manifold or something, how to i make it work with the new one im getting, also will something like a summit throttle body be a direct bolt up that works with all my components like hoses and everything

STOP NOW !!!!!

first off an intake replacement.......i DO NOT CARE WHAT YOU READ ..... will get you 7...yes 7 hp at most

the tb will do nothing unless you need it...which you don't

try to google pics of " mass air " to see the diff in your car to 89+ cars

mass air cars have a meter int he tract, which would be inbetween where your air filter and tb is

about 1/2 way

anyways, the best way to spend $500 for you right now is either

1) nitrous
2) decent iron heads (gt40's from a '93 cobra...NOT p's)
3) cheater slix

until you get better heads or a power adder, an intake does nothing for you, imagine trying to suck through a bigger straw than you already have..... butthe smalleris not holding you back ? get it ?

now go from there

you need to match a throttle body to the opening of the intake manifold for a stock motor it'll work..... as for the speed density and it's in the intake???uhhhhhhhwtf are you talking about??? speed density vs mass air .....here's the diff speed density uses a map sensor which uses a vaccum signal to calculate load through the map to determine a/f ..mass air uses a meter to meter the flow of air into the intake and calculates a/f based on the amount of air entering

typically speed density cars run better from the git

people say you need to convert later to mass air when you start to go "fast" but thats relative imo

a light 5-speed car (or c4 car w/ 4000+ converter) will touch into the 11's w/ a decent head and power adder

iron 40's are a great choice, they are takeoffs from a '93-'95 cobra or lighting

after a modest exhaust port , and maybe slight decking (no more than $200 in port work) they will outperform boxstock aluminum heads, expect to pay $250-$500 for the head sthough , so you could have a total of $700 and maybe find used aluminums...but.......any used head should have a valve job , so used aluminums will incur that cost

anyways ,after heads then you will benefit from an intake

so , heads, cam and intake(HCI) expect roughly 300 hp NA, spray another 100 on that and you'll see easy 11's

A streetburner intake is the same as the street heat intake. Just a new name from Trickflow (Summit).

Whether you add an intake to the heads, or heads to an intake, there is going to be a restriction so it does not matter.

The intake is not a bad idea.

Forget nitrous, forget slicks...

Both of things have a little bit of liability and are not used all the time.

The intake will always be there.

By the way, I like your screen name CROCOP...

eh... alot to say in this thread i guess... ill keep it short

nothing is wrong w. SD like bob said, stock for stock their faster... and contrary to what ppl say you CAN mod them w. out much problem... want proof? look at my car... h/c/i nitrous SD car.

intake will be cool and all but like bob said money can be spent elsewhere

hell for that money u can go get an gt40 motor out of a junkyard... theres heads and a (basically cobra) intake

nitrous is always fun, sd cars love it by the way

drag radials are bad ***, im glad i spent the money on them, even when i was stock... brought it down to a 14.1-14.2 car
