Default T-5 ?'s

I broke my tranny in my 94 cobra a while back. Now that I have my new car I'm going to fix the cobra and sell it. I been trying to find a good used one but am having trouble. I find a lot of 93 and older T-5s but not 94-95. I know the cobra has a specific gearing in the clutch. However I believe an older trans would fit if i changed input shaft? Is this very complicated? Also without the cobra gearing would that could anything other than decreased performance? I just want to the fixed, and done solidly, I am selling to brother-in-law. Thanks.

The Cobra T-5 is identical to the 94-94 GT T-5 except that the gears have a phosphate coating. You will probably have a hard time finding a rebuild kit or a used Cobra trans but there shouldn't be anything wrong with using any 94-95 T-5. The difference between those and the Fox T-5s is the length of the input shaft.

uhh clutches don't have gearing......anyway switching input shafts is a 10 min job on any t-5..however the cobra t-5's had a few differences than a normal t-5 and one of them was a srock t-5 had a tappered roller bearing and cup on the input shaft where as the cobra t-5 had a sealed pocket bearing on the input shaft so swapping input shafts from a cobra to a standard t-5 is not a direct swap..you'll have to match all internal parts in the area of the input shaft to correctly complete the swap.....also inside the back of a standard t-5 input shaft are a bunch of needle bearings where the nose of the output shaft rides...a cobra t-5 doesn't use this..just one more diff

I stand somewhat corrected, mjr pointed out there are some differences on the input shaft between the GT/Cobras but as far as I know, the actual gearratiosare the same.
