Default 302 Block Machining Specs

Hey all I've got a block from an 86' 5.0. I'm looking around at some parts, and was wondering if the stock block can be bored to 4.125"? Also will a 3.470" stroke be too much?

nooo. .125" is way to much for the late model roller blocks. im not positive on this one but i think .060" is actually pushin it

only the BOSS and Dart blocks which are aftermarket blocks can be bored to that figure....stock I have seen bored to .060 but personally I wouldn't reccommend going past .040 or .030

Technically you could...

But technically, you are likely to run into big problems if you do

The stroke could work. What kind of rod/piston combination are you going to run with that custom stroke?

Maybe I can sonic check the block and see what kinda numbers the block walls are running. Thatwould be the best indication.

It was looking at pieces from a rotating assembly I saw. I forget the height of the pistons but they were obviously 4.125" and the rods were 5.2" long. It also included a crank with a 3.470" stroke with 2.248" mains.

5.2 (rod length) + 1.735 (stroke/2) = 6.935"

Deck Height for a standard 302 is 8.2"

That leaves you with 1.265" for a piston.

Good Luck with that.
