well i got my car washed, went to a buffet to eat. then came out and stuck the key in the lock, turned it, unlocked the door, and my key got stuck in that position. so then i just lit a lighter on the key to try and heat it up to melt the ice in there. well when i tried LIGHTLY twisting it, it snapped off. so i got the car towed home and i need some ideas on how to get it out. the tow truck driver told me to heat it up with like a blowdryer just to melt the ice, then use a magnet to try and turn the lock and pull the key out enough to get some pliers on it. cause how the key is now u cant get pliers inthere. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks guys.

Take the lock cylinder out, then see what you can do. I had that happen before, just don't rember how I fixed it.

 

im hoping i wont have to do that. my dad told me to take the cylinder out and take it to a locksmith and have them get the key out and copy it. but im trying everything i can think of tomorrow. is there a how to anywhere on how to get the lock cylinder out of an sn95? cause that might come in handy.

 

It is going to take a powerful magnet to pull the key out. I am mainly a foxbody guy so probably can't help you much, but will takea look at a buddies tomorrow and see if I can help on the lock cylinder. Good luck man and by the way I love the color on your car. What is it called?

 

the name is royal saphire blue. i think its a toyota color cause thats what the can said when i got paint mixed for it. i know the car got repainted but ive seen a few other mustangs with what looked like the same color, so i dunno. and that would really help me out if u could look at ur friends car for me. i hope i have a strong enough magnet, if it works then great, if not then allwell ill just pull the cylinder out.

The magnet thing works. A locksmith did it for my car. Just call a local locksmith, he should be able to get it out no problem

yeah my cars not one of those ghetto ones where u have 1 key to unlock the door and another to start it.
and im gonna try to not contact a locksmith until i get the key out, i hear their expensive
