Car hesitates and then backfires through the intake
It started this last year when it got cold. No matter how warm the car is, at times you can press the pedal to the floor and the car does not want to move, RPM's SLOWLY increase, sometimes it will backfire through the intake. Then all of the sudden its like it will "cough" and the car goes fine. Any thoughts??

It feels fine. it idles funny and stalls a lot when it gets cold out, but nothing has changed and it never does this when its warm out. last i checked it was at 14 degrees

You can search and search, but there is not alot of advice for this type of problem. Ironically, this problem happens to alot of 5.0'ers. You can check the DIY section that includes cleaning the MAF sensor, replacing the TPS, etc. Some people have had success changing out their O2 sensors. However, if you do find the culprit. Please let us know so we can better answer the next person who comes along.

I had the same problem when the engine was cold (slow rpms, coughing, back firing through the intake) found out it was a vacuum line that had come loose, problem sloved.
