Default How much for...

How much do you guys think it'd cost me for a new cowl hood, an new drivers side rear quarter panel, and a new drivers side front panel, and a new paint job?

I'm just roughly thinking 1700?

$3759.32 exactly...the cowl hood will probably cost around 500 or so depending on what kind you get and how much the shipping is. The front fender shouldn't be much at all. The rear quarter panel is no easy fix becuase they will have to resheetmetal it or bondo it or somthing if there is a badly ****ed up. And the paint can range from 200-???. I need a new hood and I have a horrible dent in my drivers side quarter panel and I am getting a full paint job and I am going to spend around 6 grand. Don't get discouraged though if your not worried about a flawless paint job you can probably get the work done fairly cheap...just gotta call around, ya know.

i did all the work my self that was the cost of materials to do it , yes the paint was custom but it did not cost me any extra we have a friend that works in a paint shop , that cost included2 gal of clear hardener reducer , the base paint( i had gary ad more tint and different metal flake at his shop ) metal sealer primer sealer primer icing bondo bondo flex tiger hair i had to buy one 1/4 pannel but i got it salvage for 25 , but you got to figure in the sand paper for the blocks and for the d/a (d/a pads are not cheap )but i got a slick paint job to . for 1k you will get a decent street paint job , but expect to find dirt , flytracks , orange peel, maybe some runs and maybe a few fish eyes ,that is your call you want something that you arehappy with cuz if you paint it now for 1k and dont like it and in a year or so paint it again for 3k you have already spent 4k in the paint and body when you could have done it for between 2kand 3k the first time . i drove mine in flat black primer for a year before i got it ready to paint , and soon as i can figure out how to post a pic of it in my sig i will so you guys can see what it looks like .

Hmm, well I was just thinking of a medium to lost cost street job. I'm not looking for a show car, just a street/strip that I don't think looks like vomit and has minimal rust/dents/holes, so I thought about 1k for the pain seems reasonable. I plan on salvaging (junk yard) any panels I can, so that'd be alot cheaper there. I guess I'd have to look around, but how much work could i do myselfto prep it for painting and reduce costs(minimal body knowledge - i don't even know the steps to painting yet, but it's something I need to learn)?

Also another random question, perhaps someone could answer it. I heard I could get a rebuilt T-5 for ~500-600 shipped. I'm pretty sure I can't install this myself, so where would I go to get it installed, and how much would it cost (approx.)

Thanks guys. Sorry if I don't know ****!

hey man you are fine that is what everyone is here for . there are things that i don't know about either . salvageing is a good way of getting cheap replacement parts , far as after market hood is there a major freight company near you that might have a scratch and dent sales floor i got a 4 inch cowl hood for 100 it had a couple of big chips in it that was all . far as learning body work i have been around it all my life so it was like second nature to me , but there are tons of books at your local library that will guide you through it and the best way to learn is by doing and your car needs some body work now i would practice on the beat up parts so you can phisicly see what the books are talking about . the trans swap is not really that hard but you are better off getting it done at a shop or by some one who has done a few of them . far as getting a t-5 for 500-600 i haven't found any but not to say they are not out there . some advice for good cheap paint is ( omni coat by ppg ) looks just as good half the cost and an average life span of 5-6 years before real noticeable blemishes occure .

Alright, well I'm going to get a haynes manaul so I'd imagine that'll tell me how to remove and replace panels (never done that before).

But before painting, I know I can sand out minor rust spots, butcan I prime it myself, and does the whole car need to be sanded before the primer, or just the rust spots? Or what else would be do-able for a dude with minimal experience.
