I was probably going to get better springs for my heads and im also having my heads worked over a bit with the same cam. So thanks for the update so now i know thats a must. 314 and 351 tq dont sound that bad being that it topped out at 4800. I dont think that cam makes max power until around 5500 so im thinking maybe 340 give or take. Dont sound to bad to me. How that cam driveability wise, does the car idle good and what rpm does it idle best at. Also is a decent lope, sound good, etc...

My combo will be:
347 stroker stock block, around 10.7 to 11.0 compression
Patriot 185cc heads, 5 angle valve job, ports gasket matched, milled 5 thousandths just to make sure they lay flat, upgraded springs.
Trick flow track heat intake, Gasket matched
Comp Cams xe274hr cam
75mm tb
76mm mass air
30lb Injectors
1.6 roller rockers
1 5/8 long tubes, (might upgrade to 1 3/4)
bbk xpipe
255lph fuel pump
trick flow spray bar with the 150 jets in

Hoping for 350rwhp and 360rwtq on motor. not really worried bout what it puts down on the spray

O yea, What kind of springs are going on the heads

Yea i realize that now, but i got a good price for the head work, and i was probably going to buy springs no matter what head i used. So i mean ill still have less in them then a afrs and i dont think they will be that bad of a head with a little work.

White94, what size pushrods did you use with the motor.

i dont understand why people are paying around 900 bucks for heads that no one has liked and that many people have had problems with them for 900 u can find a really good used set of aluminums or save another month or two and buy new and not patriots, some trickflow,eddy's,rhs'canfields,afr,gt40 x&y these are all better in everyones eyes. so i dont understand why buy crap when u have spent so much already?

I bought the heads right after the article in the mustang magazine where the 302 made over 300 so i bought them thinking they was alright. The heads will be more then enough for my combo with the work im doin, i aint tryin to get every horse outta this thing, im just tryin to build a decent motor using the stock block. If i wasnt using the stock block i would have went with better heads, hince the next build will probably be a dart block 408 or something, i wont use cheap heads then. I figured 850 was good for heads and 250 for machine work from a friend, and then springs which i would buy for any head id buy. i still wont be near the price for afrs only to gain a couple more horses.

yeah u will be right there for the same price patriot heads 900 plus shipping 50 now 250 u said for machine work, and then u have to buy springs 100-200 so right there your at 1300-1400 and new head gaskets if your pulling them off 50 -150 and u could of bought afr 185's for that and swapped tghem over to like a 351 later so uhhhhhh

i did kinda what u did i bought gt40 iron that were already ported ,but needed springs and milled and wanted to run studs so i would have been into them for like a 1000 so i said screw it and sold them and bought some trickflows last year if i would of known know what i did not know then i would of went with afr 185's or canfield 195's for later on down the road

the heads i got were 850 shipped as soon as the magazine came out guess price changed i unno. I just bought the heads to build me a engine that ran good on spray decent on motor. My next build, any heads i use now forthe engine i want to build now will be too small for the next engine. I think these heads with a little work wont perform too bad compared to the other heads.
