A Little Fun *HP Guistimate Game*
OK, this is something I'm in serrious debate about doing, however the idea is growing on me. I already have most of an engine, minus a block, ready to go on my car. Also, the damn new rebuilt tranny I have is already giving issues, so long story short, I think I'm just going to save for about the next months, and finish off my build by fully upgrading the engine and tranny with all new parts, so how much rwhp do you guys think I'll be at with the following?
U/D pullies - owned
CAI - owned
90mm Granetilli MAF set to 30lb injectors - owned
94 SVO (Cobra/GT-40) upper/lower intake (gasket port matched) - owned
SVO GT-40 X 303 heads (port matched) - owned
1.7 Cobra rockers
30lb Fuel Injectors - owned
Steeda #19 cam
Chromemolly Push Rods
New Hydrollic lifters
Street 331 Stroker Block from haney motorsports.com
155lb hr fuel pump - owned
TKO 500 transmission w/ 10 spline input shaft
87-93 clutch fork
Spec Stage 2 clutch - owned
Aluminum Driveshaft - owned
So any ideas. Sorry, not changing the intake and head setup, because I know I'm going to get bashed for it, any advice on parts. I was thinking about the 347, however my research has shown that they don't last as long as a 331, so how much better are 331s over the 347 life wise?

no reason really not to go to a 347

here we go again the ole rod ratio rationale.....theroy theroy and more theroy......I got more than one ..in fact numerous customers with close to 100k and no oil burn on their 347!! in fact one of them the rear went out before the 347 did and still hasn't let go yet..100k and going strong

Well let me ask you this, what is the theory behind the 347 "issues". 100K is already a pretty long time. It will be a while before I buy a new block, "if" I do, but the rest is right on for the most part, I'm tired of blowing the crappy T-5.

so do you really think a 331 or 347 is really gonna be any easier on a t-5??.......quick and simple the rod ratio on a 347 is greater than that of a stock stroke 302 and a 331.. so in theroy the greater the rod ratio.. the more the rod will be on an angle through out the various compression and power cycle/ travel of the piston.. this in turn is said to create a greater tendancywear cylinder walls..due so extra side force being exerted due to less than optimal angleshence creating more cylinder and piston skirt wear... keep in mind that 347 pistons are short as it is with not so tall piston skirts....so the shorter the piston skirt the more prone to piston rock a 347 is......but IMO......I've seen and drove numerous high milage 347 that are still going strong and no oil burn........so what ever floats your boat 331 or 347...personally I like the 347..no replacement for displacement

just get the 347, i went w/ 331 for pretty much the same reasons mentioned, only to find out those problems have been pretty much fixed w/ todays technology. j thorn, i might be getting to crank my 331 today and get some insurance on the baby and get to drive her this week. if you would like, hit me up at 985-705-6182 and you can take a ride in mine and see if you like it. btw i live in bush.
