New to this 5.0 business
So, I posted earlier about how Im getting a 92 notch soon. Its got 200,000 miles on it.
I really wanna make this a project car. Make it street/strip. What is the first thing I should invest in? Does the engine still have enough life left to go ahead and start modding. I havent test driven it yet, but the guy says it runs like a dream. ty in advance.
OOPS. Guess this should be in the general 5.0 section. Sorry guys.
UPDATE: I Finally got it this weekend. croll tot he bottem to see updated pics.

Personally, the first thing I would do, is find out the general condition of the motor. I would run a compression test (both dry and wet), and check the oil pressure with a mechanical guage, and this will give you a pretty good idea as to what shape your motor is in. If everything checks out ok, there's nothing wrong with adding some bolt ons to increase performance. I wouldn't go crazy with 200K on the motor. Gears would be my first add on, followed by an HCI swap. If the compression check comes back low, you need to start looking for a new short/long block.

thats more than a steal, ****** it up fast,.
Make sure the vin match on the title and windshield exactly.
Underhood, check your oil levels and conditions.
Id get an interior detail. New Steering Wheel. Paint Job and New Headlights and SideMarkers.
The driver side tailpipe bracket appears to have lost its weld

cool. ty for the tips. We are getting it from a guy who works with my dad, so im sure he wont stiff us. I just cant wait to get her home. We are flying to Atlanta on the 1st of March and driving it home. I hope the guy cleans it up a bit b4 we buy it, but for 1500$ wont complain. lol
I stioll want some engine shots though, so I can be Super Duper reassured that its a 5.0/ He has said it is a 5.0 like 10 times, but ya never know. lol
Did they even make notch 4cylinders?

FordDID make notch 4cyl's... but NOT with dual exhaust... It looks like a 5.0,.. or at the least a 5.0 conversion. I would check the vin #. ....BUT.... IMHO, a straight notch (not wrecked EVER) is worth $1500 4 or 8 cyl. Get some underhood shots. Look at the fender aprons from the strut towers to the radiator support for any wrinkles, or signs of repair. This would be a deal breaker for me.... AND.... That black interior is worth money by itself......... Lots of guys would pay for that interior...............

Thanks Devine Performance. I will make sure and look for that stuff. If the compression testcomes back good, what are the first mods that I should do? Exhaust, Intake, Heads, Cam (B303 or E303 possibly)?
