Default GREWSOME FOXBODY IGNITION DISCOVERY

Trying to figure out why the fox loses power when hot issue, an idea from one of the techs came to get extension wires, one end male, the other female, and mount the ignition module off the distributor.

It helped out QUITE ALOT if not solved the infamous fox body loses power when hot theory.

When this snow leaves , ill remember that.Should of came to me faster, after knowing the grease you put behind the module gets smoked and burt away in only a few months from heat, the module does not like heat soak.

We mounted to the firewall.
I suggested elsewhere for a shorter distance, they didnt really agree it mattered.

You think the same thing will workon my dad's 3.0 Taurus? I would be interested in hearing a few more in-depth details, just for kicks.

Anywhere away from heat is better than on the distributor. In the front air dam or inside the fender would be the BEST place becasue there is 0 heat there

The heat soak would be the reason Ford relocated it to the fenderwell in 94 so you can't take credit for that one.

You also want to make sure you use nothing Motorcraft on the TFI module, pick-up AND coil.
learned my lesson once on using aftermarket coil.

re phrase that r -barn lol, use nothing BUT Motorcraft.

Too bad it took ford up to 1994 lol, no credit involved, not my ideah, but no credit for Ford, they should of issued a TSB and made a harness extension or revised distributor.

To the guy that wanted more info, go to autozone etc, the same connectors you use on speakers, 3 males, 3 females, a small spool of wire. Crimp em, mount and ground the unit and forget.

I was very impressed as the revs and power stayed there, that you normally have on a full cold , partial warm scenario.
