Default FORD'S NEW BOSS 331 CRATE ENGINE

Has anyone seen the article in Hot Rod's March issue about Fords new crate motor? Stroker 331 based of the new Boss block. They tested it to 530hp at 7,200 rpm's and 407 ftlbs at 5,400 rpm's. The motor is suppose to cost about 10k. I think I'm going to start pinching them pennies because that is an awesome setup. Here are the specs:

Dis - 331ci
Block - Ford M6010-Boss302
Crank - Eagle, forged
Rods - Eagle, forged
Pistons - Mahle forged All.
CR - 12:1
Cam - Solid Flat Tappet!
Dur. at .05 - 244/252
RR - 1.65:1
Heads - Z304p's, cnc ported
Valves - 2.02/1.6
Intake Man. - Port matched Funnelweb

I'm more interested in building ones own setup but this is awesome. That kind of power is usually reserved for Ford SB's running some type of power adder.

Look at the compresion! 12:1! To me that is not streetable at all man. And the cam looks pretty big, but hey go for it and tell us how it works out for ya

Well Hot Rod mentions that it has a pretty mild idle and I don't think Ford would build it if you couldn't drop it into a street car. 12:1 is not that high, it is said to run on 91.

10K is a bit much... it could be build with better parts for cheaper

I presonally wouldn't go past 10.5:1 even using aluminum heads. Some of the newer cars can run on high compressions but their ECU is set up for it. I think 10K is way too much.I would build a stroker 351 first. As far as Ford building crate motors having to be streetable don't forget their very unstreetable 12:1 427 SOHC.
