a modular 4.6 (2v) will hadle ~450 RWHP before u need to crack the bottom end open. the problem i, and most people have with them is
a) the heads suck so bad, no aftermarket support for them(they suck to)
b) cams are about 500...just for the cams
c) it is almost impossible to make good n/a power without breaking the bank
d) did i mention parts are priced outrageous?
Well, they must not be too bad because the 281 CI motor makes 260 HP, using 87 octane.[8D]
do a little bit of research on em n come back n say that..

EDIT: not saying that in a mean way^^ just saying...they blow!
No research needed, I was just kidding ya. Hey, at least they are the PI 4.6 heads, thats a plus.

They're good cars, and the 4.6 is Reliable. Notice the capital R. Everyone is right, the mods that will bring you more horsepower are expensive, but throw a mongoose kit on and you're looking at 400 horsepower at the wheels.

Edit: Then when you have the money, build the bottom end and swap the pulley.

Edit again: And compared to your Fox, a stock PI GT will be a bit slower. As someone stated earlier, they run ~14 in the quarter with a good driver. Throw in some gears, a full exhaust, andDRs and maybe a 93 octane tune and you can shave that to the 13's easily.

One more time: Get a short throw shifter, trust me on this one. And look for a GT from mid 2001 up, these had the 3650 rather than the T-5, which makes a big difference. The 3650 is actually a pretty good transmission if you don't treat it like crap.

negative. you put a mongoose kit on a stock pi gt and ur ookin at 350~RWHP you need supporting mods to get to 400

Meh, too many variables to say exactly what whp you'll get. Either way, that's probably the easiest way to get big power out of a 4.6.

i like ur car...but if u say the paints not the best..and the wiring problems...i would probably opt for the new edge...not sure where ur located..but around me the 02-03 range gts..thats the ones with darker headlights, hoodscoop..all that good stuff...u can get a real nice low(ish)...less than 40K.. mile car for what u have to play with...or even less and then u could use the extra for some small mods..like gears, short throw..or exhaust...i have a buddy with like a 02 black, tinted windows, exhaust, 18" 95 cobra r replica rims, reall nice lookin/soundin car..only downside is its auto..but still id take it..and i am pretty sure he got it for less than 12K...so just look around im sure u can find somethin that fits ur style/needs..and i think the 4.6s get better gas mileage?..maybe not sure...

I get about 20 in mine, that's moderate driving with the occasional romp. What do you 5.0 guys get?

Lol. I like hearing mine too, that's where the occasional romp comes in. When I'm on it for most of a tank then I get 17-18, but it'sa stock motor and stock gears, the only mods are a short throw and Borlas.
