How long do the 5.0's last for?
Just wondering because I wouldn't mind having a fun DD, such as a fox body. I see a lot of them on craigslist for about $5,000 but alot of them have 100,000+ miles on them. I also see a lot of modded ones from $3k-5k.
How reliable are these, considering the some are now 20 year old cars!? How long have some of your 5.0's lasted for?

dosnt matter what car it is, as long as it is taken care of it will last a LONG time. there is a guy on my local forum who rust rolled into 300K on the stock block n everything.

I found an 86 GT with a rebuilt 351 windsor that was bored 40 over (not gonna pretend I know what that means). It has 1,000 miles on the rebuilt engine and he's selling it for 3,500.

theres some good deals out there. my friend just bought an 87 gt with mint interior, 77k miles, but in need of paint for 1000.
the 5.0's do last a long time tho. mine has 176k on it right now and the only problem is a rough idle which is due to it running lean.
its easy for a 5.0 to clear 200k plus some if taken care of.

deals are out there, just go drive it. and really drive it. im sure the nterior is a wreck and it needs some other stuff too...but go for it.

I emailed the guy asking about it in a little more detail. Questions like how the interior/exterior is, how it's running, etc. I don't really know what to ask for, in regards to specific problems, because I'm a complete 5.0 noob [8D]

just the fact that its a 351 should tickle your fancy lol. just approach it like you would any other car buy.

I've wanted a 5.0 ever since my boss pulled up in hers, yes... HER, with a 347 stroker... that thing sounded AMAZING.

351 in a fox is always nice, expecially when its yours. id buy it as long as its in decent shape.
nice mach by the way. if i were to get a new edge it would deff be that or a cobra.
dont have the money for that tho [:@]

Fox with a 351 for 3500? I would be skeptical. Pay close attention to the body. Check it all over for rot and rust. Look underneath well to. Lift the carpet in the back, look around the windows, get a light and look real good underneath where the floor pans are. Make sure panels line up good, if not look at suspension and try to see if it looks like it's been wrecked, check frame for any inconsistancies.Take your time and just look over it very good. Engines are easier to build than body's. A solid frame and body are worth more to me than the motor is..
